There are many struggles in life, but for me, sometimes it's finding the words to place onto the page. Writing is away to create new worlds, explore, and experience so many different emotions. With reading we learn not only to write, but certain stories and characters will change us through out our lives.

Easy As Pie by Christy V.

If only life were as easy as pie

I could travel where ever I wanted

I could see any performance

I could find the money and the time

If only life were as easy as pie

I would find love that is returned

We would take time to do everything

We would be who we want to be

With no worry in the world

If only life were as easy as pie

It should be cut with equity

So all you would need is desire

To make anything possible

I followed your link here from the NaPo post. I’m also a Texan, I live northeast of San Antonio. Curious approximately where you are from?

I lived the last 6 months in South Padre though and it was far from everything and not much to do (though the beach is beautiful) so I can identify with your longing to see a show.

And the unrequited love , , , I feel that in my soul. But I do believe most often, we can find love that is returned.

I love the last two lines . . . if all it took was desire, I could have my dream job (not that I’m not working for it).

I live now in Corpus Christi, but originally from San Antonio. I’m glad you connected with my poem. That’s what is great about poetry we’re able to express things in ways we can’t say out loud and realize that our feelings are similar to others.
